Devon Mathis Biography
As a Porterville native, I grew up in a small town with small town values. I joined the US Army National Guard when I was 18 years old, while still a senior in high school, and have lived in the Central Valley all of my life. Growing up here, I have seen the effects of burdensome regulation on small businesses, water shortages, aging infrastructure, struggling public schools, and many other pressing issues. These problems have been present for years and have not changed.
We have all seen that politics as usual have not provided actual solutions to these long existing problems—and I believe that it is time to start looking for different answers. When I was in the military, I learned a lot about the world. The most important lesson though was that if I was given a problem to solve then I needed to find a solution that worked. If my original solution was not effective, then I needed to find a new one. That new solution will be found by tapping experts that are out there and waiting to help.
